Pediatric staff coordinate the Halloween parade every year according to Simone Parlier, PhD(c), MSN, RNC-OB, executive director of the Women and Children’s Center at St. John’s Children’s Hospital.

Parlier said that this annual event is an opportunity for children, who are inpatients and unable to trick-or-treat around their neighborhoods, to still get into the Halloween spirit and have some fun with the staff.

Local first responders joined players and coaches from the University of Illinois Springfield Prairie Stars women’s basketball team to take part in the parade. There were also dogs trained by Pawsitive Training Zone in Pleasant Plains as well as miniature horses from Heartland Mini Hoofs in Taylorville (sponsored by Express Employment).
