Heinkel's Meat packing delivers holiday hams to Caterpillar

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — On Wednesday, a local meat packing favorite delivered over 2,000 holiday hams to Caterpillar employees.

Heinkel's Meat packing delivered the hams to workers at Caterpillar on Wednesday. Caterpillar paid for the hams for its employees.

This is the first year the local meat packing company has done this with Caterpillar. The company President, Wes Heinkel, told WAND News he hopes to continue doing this in the future:

"I'm super excited and its such a cool thing to be a part of this family business, and also just to have our product. Every ham is going to hit 10 people probably so when you are doing 2 thousand for Caterpillar, that's a lot of people we are hitting in Decatur, and we are just very excited to be with them on Christmas."

Heinkel said this is a "serious and sustainable order" for the family-owned business and they hope to have the company next year too. He also added they also deliver holiday baskets to Mueller employees.

"I just think it is cool that we have 20-25 Heinkel employees out there handing out their hard work to the people of Caterpillar," Heinkel added.
