DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Back in May 2024, Heritage Behavioral Health Center was donated three buildings in the Northgate Plaza by the Andreas family.

Thursday afternoon, they held an open house in the now-empty "K's Merchandise" to show their future plans for the acquired spaces.

Once renovated, the buildings will be used as a hub to host their various services. Nearly all of Heritage's 53 available services will be housed at the new location on North Water Street.

"We know there's a huge need for additional mental health and substance use services as well as access to primary care services." explained Mary Garrison, President and CEO of Heritage. "We live in a unique area where there's some challenges there. And so I think what drives myself and my team is that we're only going to be improving services for the individuals that we serve."

Garrison said they anticipate construction starting in summer 2026, and that it could take 3 to 5 years. Heritage is still developing the design of their future health care center. They plan on utilizing their Facebook to keep community members up-to-date with design and construction services.
