SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — Lincoln Library in Springfield received more than one million dollars in grant funding.
The library will invest the money into its youth center, adding more programming spaces for young people.
Youth Center Manager Molly Dunlap says she is eager to see the changes take shape.
"I was so excited when we found out that we were getting this money and we were going to be able to, just, like I said, give the whole place a facelift and create some new spaces," said Dunlap. "We were all super excited for sure."
Construction is expected to be completed within nine months.
In Decatur, the Public Library received its annual grant of $119,887 earlier this month.
The library will invest the money into e-books and other digital resources.
Library Director Rick Meyer says e-book demand was the deciding factor.
"The demand for electronic resources has skyrocketed in the last few years," said Meyer.
