SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — A popular event for book lovers is made its comeback in Springfield this weekend.
The Adult Book Fair returned to the Vinegar Hill Mall on Saturday, bringing back the nostalgia of a school book fair with an adult twist.
Organizers said this year's fair featured an expanded lineup of local book stores, including Lincoln Library, Books on the Square, and several new and used book vendors.
"I think it's important for community. That's what we're all about," said Kristi Mueller, the creative director for the book fair. "We like to support other local businesses and local people, and just bring everybody together. Our main goal with this was to recreate that scholastic book fair magic that we all loved as kids."
Organizers said proceeds from the vendor fees and event merchandise will go toward helping local schools provide books for students at their own book fairs.
