TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — Next week is Black Friday, but Taylorville shone a spotlight on small businesses for "Pink Friday."

After renovations to the downtown Taylorville area over the last few years, it has seen an increase in small businesses owned by Taylorville locals.

Jessica Oyler, owner of The Dandy Lion, says the revitalization of the square has completely transformed the town.

"It's just fabulous to be able to look at our big storefront windows and see all of the customers shopping and supporting us, and to hear the music going downtown, it's just a good holiday season," Oyler said.

Sherri Craggs, owner of Fur Love Charitable Resale Shop, explained that shopping small during the holidays is beneficial all around.

"Staying in the community gives the money back to the community," Craggs said.

The "Pink Friday" deals extend through most of the weekend for many of the small businesses. They will also have additional deals for Small Business Saturday the following week.
