TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - Taylorville will "Paint the Square Pink" this weekend, helping local women get access to critical breast cancer screening and preventative care.

The event will take place from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at Legendary Small Town Trading Co.

A $25 donation by either cash or check will include a wine glass with a hand-painted logo and the customer's choice of wine, cocktail, or mocktail.

All proceeds will benefit the Taylorville Memorial Hospital Mammography Patient Assistance Program, helping underinsured and uninsured patients pay for mammograms.

Susan Huggins, a radiation therapist and organizer with Cups for a Cure, said that she has seen younger women come through the door needing mammograms and unable to get them.

"We're hoping that this fund will help those women who maybe have an extensive family history, or they have something that they've felt on a self-exam. This will help them be confident in going in and getting that exam, if their insurance isn't participating in that," Huggins said.

Additional information, including the menu, is available on Legendary's Facebook page.
