DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Gallery 510 Art & Framing presents the Young Artists Showcase 2026, highlighting art made by local students, with a focus on creative expression.
The gallery will be open from March 25 to April 10 on the third floor of the Madden Arts Center in Downtown Decatur.
The showcase will feature artwork by local fifth through eighth grade students from Monticello, Clinton, Maroa-Forsyth, Sangamon, Warrensburg-Latham, Meridian and Bement.
Award presentations will also take place from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 10, at the Madden Arts Center. There will also be a people's choice award given out to the winner.
Cindy Duncan, program coordinator at Gallery 510, said the showcase provides a unique opportunity for young artists.
"Children need art. It is something that they really need to express themselves," Duncan said. "And I wish the schools would give more to the arts, because it is so important that they can express themselves."
The event is free, and additional information is available online.
