(WAND) - Thursday, July 31, is Dairy Queen's Miracle Treat Day.

The campaign benefits the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

On this day, $1 or more from every Blizzard Treat sold will benefit local children's hospitals with funding for life-saving treatments and essential services.

This year, the event highlights the story of a family whose daughters were helped the Children's Miracle Network. Elle and Emme were borth at just 25 weeks gestation, both with severe brain bleeds and a 10% and 15% chance of survival. Elle's condition gradually stabilized. But Emme required five brain surgeries and received a diagnosis of epilepsy and cerebral palsy and a life-altering hemispherectomy at the age of 6.

Emme is now thriving, solving math problems, making jokes, and walking, just five days after that last surgery.

Dairy Queen's Miracle Treat Day launched in 2006. It has helped raise over $185 million across the U.S. and Canada.

To participate in Miracle Treat Day, just visit your local Dairy Queen and order a Blizzard.
