Vet Med Comes to Life open house

The University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine is hosting its annual free open house "Vet Med Comes to Life." 

CHAMPAIGN - URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - The University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine is hosting its annual free open house "Vet Med Comes to Life." 

The event will be held Oct. 5. Most booths are open throughout the day, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Parking is free, and there are refreshments and meals available for purchase, as are veterinary-themed shirts and other apparel.

There will be more than 40 exhibits and demos showcasing the science and caring behind veterinary medicine. 

There will also be interactive games and crafts for kids, live animals including horses, dogs, snakes, sheep, cows, and birds of prey from the Wildlife Medical Clinic. 

There will be skeletons, microscopes, x-rays, and hands-on activities. 

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn and ask questions about admissions into veterinary school, see demonstrations of horseshoeing, animal physical rehabilitation exercises, and the Illini Service Dog training team.
