SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — For Maddy Grandys, she is hard at work putting the final touches on her September wedding.

"It's actually insane how much people spend on their weddings!" she said. Grandys is strategically planning her big day, to avoid over-spending.

Saturday afternoon, she visited the Land of Lincoln Goodwill's Bridal Gown Show.

The event took place at the Wabash Ave. location, featuring over 200. new and gently used wedding dresses, mother-of-the-bride dresses, and bridesmaid dresses.

"I love like pearls and just really like simple dresses!" Grandys shared. She was in luck, as she tried on multiple different gowns meeting her taste in style.

The racks, full of dresses, showcased various styles and sizes. Brides could also look at shoes, jewelry, and bridal accessories.

Lauren Milligan-Turner, District Manager, helped women try on gowns and help them make their big decision. After the success of their Bridal Gown Show last week in Chatham, she planned two more.

"We had an opportunity to help out brides and be able to give them a beautiful gown at a lesser cost..." Milligan-Turner explained. Many of these dresses were donated by previous brides, and some were donated by a bridal store after they closed their doors to the public.

Milligan-Turner is excited to hold one more show next weekend, located at 2531 N Dirksen Pkwy. Land of Lincoln Goodwill event will run on April 5, 1-4 p.m.
