JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - Cleanup is wrapping up after a large grease spill in Jacksonville.Â
The Jacksonville Fire Department, Jacksonville Police Department, and Jacksonville Street Department responded at 3:40 a.m. Wednesday to an organic grease spill estimated at 100 gallons, stretching from the Starbucks on West Morton Avenue to the Casey’s on East Morton.
The spill came from a commercial grease truck, leaving a slippery trail along the road, creating a hazard to drivers and pedestrians.
No injuries have been reported.Â
City street crews worked to clean the spill. Sand and absorbent materials are being applied to reduce the risk of slipping.
The road reopened around 6 a.m.Â
