DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - Two people were hospitalized and dozens were rescued from a high rise apartment building fire in Danville Sunday. 

The Danville Fire Department was called to the Churchill Towers apartment building at 101 E. Seminary St. at 6:40 p.m. 

Heavy smoke was coming from multiple windows on the 4th and 5th floors of the building, and people were at their windows, unable to escape the building. 

Firefighters and Danville police officers started rescuing people, removing a total of 32 people from the upper floors. 

Multiple ambulances were brought to the scene to offer medical care and transport. At least two people are still hospitalized. 

Several people have been temporarily displaced.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
