ARGENTA, Ill. (WAND) - The Village of Argenta is under a boil water order and residents are being asked to conserve water.

Village of Argenta Mayor Cindy Luedke shared the order with WAND News Saturday morning. It's not clear why the boil water order is in place.

The village also posted about the order on its Facebook page. In an update to the post late Saturday morning, residents were told to conserve water as water pressure builds back up.

Several people in the comment section of the post said they had little water pressure or no water at all on Saturday morning.

The village said the boil order would likely be lifted on Monday.

The Illinois EPA recommends boiling water for five minutes before using it to cook or drink.

Argenta is located in northeast Macon County and has a population of approximately 900 people.
