TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — Taylorville is ensuring that all students have access to STEM courses.
Technology Integrationist for K-4 Suzanne Specha says there are no limits with what students can do.
"One of the really neat things about here is that STEM starts in Kindergarten and goes all the way through 12th grade and every student has access to the STEM technologies, and the STEM lab, and the STEM spaces in all of the schools," explained Specha.
Students have even used what they've learned to start planning their careers.
"I'm in a class, it's Computer Concepts. Mrs. Reindl came in and talked to us about cybersecurity and that really inspired my interest. That's what I'm going to try and pursue after high school. Just a career in cybersecurity or IT," said senior, Trysten Anderson.
That's the goal for Tech Integrationist Tammy Reindl: students leaving Taylorville Jr. High with an idea of what they want to do.
"I guess I just feel like I hope these courses give them an idea of a path that's going to lead them to a career that they're going to enjoy for the rest of their life," said Reindl.
