CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - A 24-year-old Rantoul man has been sentenced to 100 years in prison for a deadly stabbing that left a woman injured and one man dead in March 2025.
Court documents show that Alex Muanambuta pleaded guilty to one count each of murder and attempted murder Wednesday.
He received two sentences of 70 and 30 years that will be served consecutively.
Muanambuta will additionally receive credit for 306 days of time served.
The stabbing happened near Healey Street and Fair Street in Champaign in March 2025.
Police found a man and woman stabbed. The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition, while the man was stabbed multiple times and died at the scene.
Muanambuta was later arrested on first-degree murder and attempted murder charges.
