MT. ZION. (WAND) - Family, friends and loved ones visited their old high school to honor Kirsten Clark, her in the best way they knew how.
A Mt. Zion pom pom alumni passed away on August 3rd from a long fight of cancer.
"She had colorectal cancer and then she also had thyroid cancer and she had also been treated for that. Then the colorectal did spread and detatize," said best friend Jennifer Detmers.
Despite her difficult fight, Kirsten was always seen with a smile on her face among all of her loved ones. Some of her final words being, "I'd rather it have been me and not my son."
Friends and family held a balloon release to spread awareness and remind community members that they should always put their health first and follow up with their medical visits.
"Take care of yourself, have those health visits. If you feel something is wrong, don't wait procrastinate, take care of it right now," said Detmers.
