(WAND)- A benefit is being held in memory of two young children who lost their lives in a toxic chemical spill in Teutopolis in 2023.

A total of five people died in the aftermath of the spill, which was caused when a tanker truck crashed. The victims included the children, aged 10 and 7, and their father, Kenneth Bryan.

Walker and Rosie's mother, Macy Reed, said there were only two ways she could handle her grief. "You kind of go one of two ways and really wallow in it and make it your identity. Or you can really transform your life from it and bring something better about. And that's, I think that's what we're trying to do," said Reed.

Thus, the benefit was created.

The Walker and Rosie benefit will take place on Saturday, March 29, at the Teutopolis KC Hall. It will be held from 4 p.m. to midnight with meals being served from 5 to 7 p.m.

There will be a live auction to help raise money for an even bigger project, the Walker and Rosie Bryan Memorial Fun Park.

"We're making a pump trax where kids are inevitably going to fall off their bicycles, but they're going to get back up and they're going to keep pedaling," said Rosie and Walker's uncle, Ethan Doty.

When the idea for a memorial first came up, the family brainstormed ways on how to do it. But when the idea of a pump trax came up, it was decided that this would be the perfect way to honor the kids and Kenny.

"We're making it safer for their friends that are still here and enjoying their bike riding and everything. Now, they can go to the park, and they can ride their bikes safely. And when they do it, they'll remember their two dear friends because of that track," said Doty.
