CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - A family escaped a house fire in Champaign Tuesday night. 

The Champaign Fire Department was called to a fire at a single-family home in the 400 block of S Russell St. at 11:55 p.m.

Fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

The family was able to get out on their own. Smoke was coming from the two-story house when crews arrived. They used hose lines to get to the second floor and back of the home. 

The cause of this fire is still under investigation.

No one was hurt. One cat was rescued by firefighters. The occupants will be displaced as a result of the fire.
