(WAND) — Due to avian influenza and winter months, chickens aren't laying as many eggs as they would normally.

But for Sterling Family Farms owner and manager Katherine Sterling, she's doing everything to avoid having to raise her prices.

But it comes with some limits.

"I'm limiting my private customers to two dozen at a time. And everybody has been very nice about the whole thing so far," said Sterling.

Her commercial orders are harder to fill though.

"My biggest commercial order, I gave them three quarters of an order. Thursday morning to try and get more to them. Sunday depends on what Saturday night's egg collection looks like," said Sterling.

Other central Illinois farmers are doing their best to get eggs to customers. One of them is by working with local businesses like the Perfect Pair.

"We have duck eggs and chicken eggs from Kilgore's Farmstead in Fairbury, Illinois, which is just north of Bloomington ... We've been to their farm before to see their cows and their milking process. So it made sense that we would just continue to use them for our chicken and duck eggs as well," explained Perfect Pair Co-owner Aryn Callarman.

By the business helping sell eggs, farmers are still able to provide for the community.

"That's our goal at the perfect pair, to help our local farmers," said Callarman.
