The Sangamon County Circuit Clerk's Office and a Springfield radio station are expressing shock and sadness following the death of one of their co-workers.
40-year-old Matthew Dennison's body was found floating in Lake Michigan in Chicago Monday morning. Dennison was in the Windy City attending the Illinois Association of County Officials' Annual Convention. He worked as the county's Passport Director and Traffic Department Manager. Â Dennison also worked as a part-time disc jockey at WFMB Radio in Springfield.
Co-workers say he was always willing to fill in whenever needed.Â
"He bailed me out on more than...on so many occasions I can't even, I can't even number them, but when someone suddenly was sick overnight, that's the hardest shift to fill, I could call Matt and he'd run in here and take care of it," said WFMB Program Director Dave Marsh.
"Matt was dedicated to his family," said WFMB News Director Jeff Hofmann. "He worked those jobs so his wife could stay at home and she was a stay at home mom with three kids and that was important to him, which is why he was doing those jobs."
Matthew Dennison had a third job as a night cashier at Royal Oaks Nissan. Chicago Police are still investigating his death.
