JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - One person is dead following an accident a the Jacksonville Speedway, according to the Morgan County Coroner.
The accident happened on Friday at the speedway.
According to the Morgan County Coroner, a 410-winged sprint car lost control and hit and killed a 65-year-old Ralph Willhite, of Jacksonville, was in the infield.
He died at the scene.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
The Jacksonville Speedway posted on it's Facebook page about Willhite's tragic death.
"Thank you for giving us your friendship Ralphie. It's really what meant the most. We will miss you."
