UPDATE 3-19-24 6:30 PM : The Sangamon County Coroner has identified the victim of Monday night's deadly shooting.Â
Aaron Suttle, 47, of Springfield was pronounced deceased by hospital staff shortly after his arrival to the emergency room.
An autopsy was done on Tuesday and preliminary findings suggest Suttle died from the gunshot wound.
The case is being investigated in conjunction with the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office.
Detectives are trying to locate and interview additional witnesses, and continue to collect evidence.
Police believe the suspect to be a black man wearing black pants and a white short-sleeve shirt, who was last seen running towards Clearlake Avenue after the shooting.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Police are investigating after a deadly shooting in Springfield Monday night.Â
Officers were called to the 300 block of North Dirksen Parkway at 9:09 p.m. for a shots fired call.Â
They found a man inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to the hospital but did not survive.Â
Police said a suspect was seen running east away from the scene.Â
