EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WAND)- The Effingham County Coroner is releasing more information about an Ohio man whose body was recovered from the bottom of Lake Sara.
Coroner Kim Rhodes said that on Oct. 1 around 3 p.m., two people who were working at a construction site at Lake Sara decided to swim across the lake to an Airbnb where they were staying. About halfway across the lake, one swimmer went under water and did not resurface.Â
Emergency responders were unable to find the man.Â
On Oct. 2 around 11 a.m., the body of the man was found by the Department of Natural Resources will the help of a "towfish" sonar device. The body was recovered from the center basin of Lake Sara which is 34 feet deep.Â
Coroner Rhodes identified the victim as Kameron Brown, 29, of Sardis, Ohio.Â
In an autopsy, Rhodes said Brown's cause of death was drowning and added that the temperature of the water had caused his body to cramp and become disoriented.Â
Rhodes said no trauma or medical emergency contributed to his drowning. Toxicology did reveal recent use of marijuana. However, Rhodes did not indicate that it contributed to Brown's death.Â
