URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - Urbana will be testing a new "road diet" on North Lincoln Avenue.

The goal is to make the corridor safer for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.

The city has restriped a stretch between King Park and I-74, reducing traffic to one lane each way and added a center turn lane.

Officials stated that the temporary changes can reduce rear-end crashes and make crossing the street easier.
