Thousands of McLean Co. residents still without power after storm moves through B-N

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WAND) - Thousands are without power after a powerful storm moved through the Bloomington-Normal community Thursday afternoon.

At its peak, over 32,000 McLean County residents were without power, according to Power Outage.com

Illinois State University sent out an emergency alert that the campus sustained damage and power outages. ISU stated that streets surrounding the campus are closed, and residence halls will remain open with emergency power.

OSF St. Joseph Medical Center said that its campus was closed to visitors and that all outpatient clinic appointments will be rescheduled due to storm damage.

OSF added that outpatient appointments at its Center for Health, including the Cancer Center, will also be rescheduled.

The City of Bloomington posted on Facebook that Public Works crews have addressed several downed trees and power lines in the area.

The Town of Normal added that several streets are blocked and difficult to navigate, and urged residents to stay off Constitution Trail.

Connect Transit posted on Facebook that all fixed route service is suspended until further notice. The transit service urged riders to cancel "all unnecessary trips."

WAND News reached out to the McLean County Emergency Management Agency for more information and has not yet received a response.
