(WAND) - The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF1 tornado touched down in Piatt and Champaign counties during Tuesday’s severe weather.
Following a damage survey, officials said the tornado stayed on the ground for about 24 miles and produced peak winds estimated at 100 mph.
According to the NWS, the tornado touched down northwest of Lodge, damaging five two-legged power poles along Route 10. It then moved southeast, causing tree and crop damage.
The survey also found that the tornado had flipped a box truck on Interstate 72 near White Heath. It continued southeast, causing major crop damage and damaging two large outbuildings and a garage.
Damage from the storm was also found in Sadorus, and Pesotum.Â
