LINCOLN, Ill. (WAND) — Back in July, WAND News learned that a Logan County Correctional officer was placed under administrative leave over an inappropriate Facebook Post.

After obtaining more information about Correctional Officer Thomas R Angeli, WAND has learned this is not his first offense.

According to documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, Angeli was suspended for five days in Dec. 2019 for violating standards of conduct, and prior to that an additional five days in Nov. 2015 for violating standards of conduct, rules of conduct, and a warden's bulletin regarding personal items.

This current leave would be Angeli's third since being hired in 2015. He started at Hill Correctional Center where he received his first suspension before transferring to Logan Correctional.

Angeli was arrested last week for possession of a firearm with an expired FOID. He was granted pre-trial release and will be in court next month.

The IL DoC released a statement following his suspension on July 25.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
