MONTICELLO, IL. (WAND) — An event planned to encourage customers to shop local has been cancelled.
The Small Shop Stroll announced that it will not move forward in 2026. The event, which was planned for March 13-14, debuted in 2025 and was meant to be an annual event.
The goal of the stroll was to highlight small businesses in Douglas, Moultrie and Piatt Counties.
"While we were hopeful to build on last year's momentum, retail participation this year did not reach the level needed to create the kind of experience and impact that made the event successful," event organizers said in a Facebook post.
Organizers said they are considering a timing adjustment, but no final decisions have been made.
