CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) -- One man was hospitalized after a shooting near the University of Illinois Campus Saturday morning.
The University of Illinois Police Department said the shooting happened near Green Street and Fifth Street around 12:30 a.m.
Officers found one man who was shot when they arrived. Police said he was taken to the hospital, where he had surgery and is still receiving care.Â
Investigators said the shooting followed a verbal altercation between multiple people. The victim became involved and was shot.Â
