DECATUR, Ill. (WAND)-- One person escaped a garage fire with minor injuries.
The Decatur Fire Department was called to the 1900 block of N. 31st Street on Friday just after 9 p.m. for a report of a structure fire.
While on the way, crews learned that a person had escaped the garage.

Once on scene, firefighters found heavy fire showing from a detached garage. They quickly extinguished the flames and got it under control in less than 20 minutes.

One person was able to escape with minor injuries. According to DFD, the person refused transport and medical treatment.
The cause remains under investigation.
