2 dead after crash in rural Sangamon County identified

SANGAMON COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) -- Two people are dead after a two-vehicle crash northwest of Springfield.

It happened near the intersection of Illinois Route 125 and Route 97 early Saturday morning.

Sangamon County Coroner has identified the two individuals involved in the crash.

Leslie Foggy, 63 of Springfield was pronounced dead at the scene, and Tammy Boyer, 43, of Petersburg was taken to Springfield Memorial Hospital where she died shortly after her arrival.

An autopsy found both individuals died from blunt force injuries sustained in the incident.

The deaths are under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Illinois State Police.
