SIDNEY, Ill. (WAND) - A Champaign man was arrested after a bank robbery in Sidney Monday afternoon.
The Champaign County Sheriff's Office said that deputies responded to a hold-up alarm around 1:45 p.m. at Longview Bank in Sidney.
Bank employees told deputies that a man, later identified as 32-year-old Caleb Estabrook from Champaign, passed workers a note demanding money.
Estabrook had then exited the bank with a "large sum" of money and escaped in a vehicle.
The sheriff's office said that the vehicle was eventually spotted in the 2600 block of West Springfield Avenue in Champaign, and deputies attempted a traffic stop before Estabrook fled the scene.
Estabrook was said to have led deputies on a short chase, which ended when his vehicle crashed near the intersection of John Street and Goldenview after hitting a Champaign County patrol vehicle, and then struck a nearby home.
According to the sheriff's office, Estabrook was arrested.
A woman inside the car with him was taken to the hospital, along with a juvenile inside the home who got hurt. Both had minor injuries.
Estabrook is charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding, and robbery.
