DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The man who is accused of pointing a weapon at people in Downtown Decatur last month has been denied pretrial release. 

Michael Boliard, 54, was near E William Street with a crossbow on April 22. 

Decatur police shot Boliard multiple times after he pointed the weapon at officers. He was then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. 

Boliard's defense claimed the crossbow was not loaded. 

ISP stated that Boliard was released from the hospital on Tuesday and was then taken into custody.

Boliard was charged with aggravated assault of a peace officer, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a controlled substance and armed violence. 

He will be in court again May 20.
