SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Taylor Staff, a former Springfield police officer who pled guilty to sexual assault and other misconduct allegations, was sentenced to six and a half years in the Illinois Department of Corrections Wednesday. 

According to the Sangamon County State's Attorney, Staff has received credit for 998 days served in county jail.

One year of mandatory supervised release is required after the sentence, and Staff must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. 

Illinois State Police arrested Staff in February 2021 following accusations of sexual assault and other misconduct allegations involving three separate victims while on duty as an SPD officer. 

Staff pled guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse, two counts of official misconduct, custodial sexual misconduct and criminal sexual abuse in April.
