SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Illinois State Police seized 44 pounds of cocaine and made dozens of arrests during a joint traffic enforcement operation in Sangamon County.

The agency called it a "successful" six-days. 

According to a July 24 Facebook post from ISP Troop 6, the detail concentrated on high crash fatality areas, high crime areas, organized violent offenders and structured criminal groups taking advantage of the interstate to further crime in and around the capital. 

The Springfield Police Department and the Sangamon County Sheriff's Office worked with ISP.

ISP released results from the detail:

  • Citations issued: 385
  • Individuals arrested: 31
  • Firearms seized: 6
  • Criminal charges: 52
  • Felony charges: 26
  • Stolen vehicles recovered: 1
  • Cocaine seized: 44 pounds
  • Illegal cannabis seized: 1,453 pounds

The department did not disclose who was arrested, or provide details on the individual cases.
