RANTOUL, Ill. (WAND) - An 8-year-old boy was airlifted to a hospital after being stabbed during a domestic dispute in Rantoul, according to police. 

Rantoul officers were called to the 1200 block of Falcon Drive for a reported domestic incident around 11:31 a.m. on Tuesday. 

When officers arrived, they found the boy with stab wounds in his stomach.

He was treated on scene by Rantoul Police Officers and firefighters until an ambulance arrived. He was transported via AirLife to Carle Hospital.

Police said Henry J. Carr, 25, from Rantoul was identified as a suspect and was seen in the area.

Carr was detained after a foot chase. He was later transported to the Champaign County Correctional Center on preliminary charges of aggravated domestic battery.

Rantoul Police Chief Tony Brown told WAND News that Carr was in a relationship with the boy's mother.
