DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - A Danville man was sentenced to nine years in prison after being caught running from police back in June.
The Vermilion County State's Attorney's Office said in a Sept. 9 press release that the man, 27-year-old Jodavious Jones, was sentenced to nine years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Jones must also serve a one-year mandatory supervised release after his term in the IDOC.
The release said that the Danville Police Department responded to a large outdoor party June 20.
That day, Danville police heard shots being fired upon arrival and saw people running, one of whom was Jones, who was seen going into a nearby alley and throwing a gun away.
DPD officers quickly found the gun and arrested Jones. The release added that Jones previously had three felony gun convictions.
