BEARDSTOWN, Ill. (WAND) --Â A man from Jacksonville was sentenced to 40 years in prison on Monday, for a murder in Beardstown.
Benchy Couloute received a 40-year sentence for murder and an additional 15 years for home invasion; both sentences will be served concurrently, according to the Cass County State's Attorney.
Couloute was arrested in Indiana in April by Indiana and Illinois State Police for the murder of Junior Kalnoji. The Illinois State Police reported that Kalnoji was found dead in his home on March 24, 2025.
