DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A Decatur woman is mourning the loss of her mother after she was found dead Sunday morning in rural Macon County.
On April 13, Macon County Sheriff's deputies found the body of 55-year-old Stephanie Krohn in the 8000 block of Ridge Rd. She had been strangled and set on fire, according to police.
WAND News talked with Stephanie's daughter, Dailey Krohn in a one-on-one interview.
Dailey stated, "it's also just been, really hard because I want to say goodbye to her."Â
Dailey noted that everything seemed normal in the moments leading up to the unexpected loss.
"We had a little conversation at like seven just talking, chatting. And then around like 8 or 9, I hear her by her car, leave. Everything's fine. I get up the next morning and sometimes she goes out and I don't hear anything from her," said Dailey.
After trying to call her mom several times on Sunday morning, the only call Dailey received was from the police, informing her of her mother's passing.
"What hurts the most about this is when it feels like I can finally repair a relationship with her. She's gone and I don't even have the chance to say goodbye. And I really, I really do miss her. And she didn't deserve this."
With a sudden death like this, Dailey clings to memories while wishing for more. As she navigates pain and heartache, she leans on family and friends.
A GoFundMe page has been created to help with the costs.
