Decatur, Ill (WAND) – Storm debris caused by fallen branches and limbs continues to be picked up by the city of Decatur.

The storm caused widespread tree damage on June 17th and again during the early morning hours of July 4, 2026. Decatur’s Municipal Services Department expects the work will be completed, at the earliest, one week from this Friday.

On Tuesday morning (July 7, 2026) city workers were cleaning up in neighborhoods on the west side of the city. A private contractor was brought in to handle two large trees along Monroe Street south of Decatur Memorial Hospital.

If you have branches or limbs which need to be hauled away call the Municipal Services Department at 217-875-4820. Those limbs and branches should be placed at the curb. The city cannot go up on your property.

No building material, trash or paper landscape bags will be taken.
