DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — 20 years later, hometown boat racer Sean Bowsher is ready to return to Lake Decatur.
WAND first met Bowsher at the boat races back in 2004. Now, he is leading the force in bringing these races back to his hometown.
"People not involved in the boat races — they always say gosh, I want them back," said Bowsher.
Bowsher will race in a 1 liter hydroplane this weekend. As excited as he is to be back racing, Bowsher says he's even more excited to bring the community back together with the event.
"You rekindled friendships when you come back. So it's really fun that we got Decatur back and we're bringing that back again," said Bowsher.Â
