DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Door 4 Brewing Company sees success in collaboration.
The business, now open four months behind Door 4 of the Marquis Beverage Company on West Cerro Gordo Avenue, is the expanded business plan of Tim and Aimee Fyke.
What began as a food truck in town has now evolved into a converted space for a brew house and tap room.
"There are anywhere between 7 and 10 beers available at any given day of the week," said owner Tim Fyke. "We have IPAs, cream ales, lagers, stouts and Scottish ales."
Jim Misner is the head brewer and says its a dream come true to be in charge of the craft beer brewing along with ciders.
Each of the locally crafted beers on tap have a story behind the them, like the Eldo Bowl, The Golden Arm, The Learner's Permit and the High Flier.
The High Flier is named after a Kite Company in Decatur from the 1920's.
"The sellers family is still here today and come in all the time and they love it," Fyke said. "They brought a kite we have up on the wall behind the bar its get people thinking instead of just drinking."
During the day they are making beer in the brew house and when 3 p.m. comes, the bar and tap room open to the public.
"I have had so many people say thank you for doing this for Decatur, thanks for giving us something that is unique and that we can do as a family," Aimee Fyke said.
There are board games to play, and when the weather stays nice, planned activities outside.
A new creation, with help from D.J. Cooper and Marquis Beverage D4 Nitro, is a cold brewed coffee infused with nitrogen.
Door 4 also collaborates with local restaurants, which come in to offer their foods.
"We've had Bizzo, Gin Mill, Robbies and Sloan Pizza, among others," Tim Fyke said.
Door 4 Brewing Company is a a place to make a new friend on tap.
