DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — The Danville Area Community College Board of Trustees censured a board member on Monday after they say he violated multiple board policies.
According to a resolution of the board's January 5 meeting, Trustee Dylan Haun shared information that was talked about during a closed session without permission, violating board policy.Â
In the resolution, the board said the violation "undermines the board's ability to engage in candid discussion and exposes the college to potential legal and reputational risk."
The resolution also said Haun met with the college's Safety and Security Officer and Chief of Campus Security to "discuss matters relating to the college" without the board president's permission.
According to a board policy, trustees are required to notify the president if they want to meet with employees or students in order to maintain cooperation and mutual support between trustees and the president.
The board formally censured Haun for the violations during the Monday meeting. A formal censure serves as a public expression of disapproval. It does not mean Haun will be removed from his position.
The DACC board consists of seven elected voting members who serve six year terms, and one non-voting student member elected by the student body to serve a one year term.
According to DACC meeting records, Haun was sworn into the board in April of 2021, and his term ends in 2027.
