Matt Snyder

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - St. Teresa High School has announced the appointment of a new Principal for the 2025-2026 school year.

Matt Snyder has been chosen by the school's board of directors to serve as the Principal, with an official start date of July 1, 2025.

He will be replacing Larry Daly, who has recently taken on the role of Principal at Central A&M High School.

Snyder is a well-known figure in Central Illinois education, having served as the Regional Superintendent of Schools for Macon-Piatt Counties from 2009 to 2022. He has also been the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at St. Teresa since 2022.

With a commendable career in education and athletics, Snyder has experience as both a teacher and coach at Argenta-Oreana High School and Champaign Central High School. Before joining the Regional Office, he was the Dean of Students at Eisenhower High School in Decatur.

Dr. Kenneth Hendriksen, the Executive Director, remarked, "Matt Snyder is an outstanding educator who will lead St. Teresa as we continue to move forward."

Larry Daly, the current Principal of St. Teresa High School, stated, "We are very fortunate to have Matt continue at St. Teresa High School. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position and will certainly be an asset to the school."

Matt Snyder expressed his enthusiasm by saying, "I am excited to take on the role of Principal at St. Teresa High School and continue the legacy established by those before me. St. Teresa has a long tradition of excellence in academics, athletics, and the arts, and I look forward to upholding those traditions. I will work hard to grow our enrollment and attract and maintain a high-quality staff."
