Firefighters help save house from garage fire

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) -- Quick actions from firefighters helped stop a garage fire from spreading.

It happened just before 3 p.m. Friday on East Whitmer Street. 

Decatur Fire Chief said, when crews arrived the garage was in flames and began to spread to a nearby home. 

Firefighters were quickly able to put out the fire and prevent it from spreading further.

Fire Chief Elder said, the home was unoccupied at the time since it was undergoing renovations. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
