TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — A former CEO of the City of Taylorville Chamber of Commerce was sentenced after pleading guilty to theft stemming from her arrest in 2023.

Patty A. Hornbuckle was arrested March 20, 2023, and charged with Embezzlement/Theft (exceeding $100,000 to $500,000) and Deceptive Practices.

The City of Taylorville Chamber of Commerce had contacted the police department several months before her arrest alleging misconduct and theft by the CEO. TPD conducted an investigation and met with employees. It was learned that the CEO abruptly resigned after being questioned by members of the chamber about misconduct. She served in the role from 2012 to 2021.

On Thursday, Hornbuckle entered a plea of guilty to a charge of theft. A second charge was dropped.

She was sentenced to First Offender Second Chance Probation for a period of 24 months and will have to pay a fine of $1,000.
