Decatur, Ill (WAND) — The Good Samaritan Inn serves 200 people a day, and the number continues to grow as more people face food insecurity.
Executive Director Tanya Melendez says the Good Samaritan's upcoming WSOY Community Food Drive should provide the Inn with enough food for an entire year.
“We are seeing a lot of new faces which means that we are able to help those who need it,” Melendez told WAND News. “Inflation is really high right now. We’ve got unemployment and people are finding it harder to make ends meet.”
The WSOY Community Food Drive is October 4th at the Airport Plaza Kroger on Route 36 in Decatur from 6a.m. to 6p.m. Food and monetary donations are accepted. For more information about how to donate, click here.
