DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Through a federal grant, the HAP Foundation will partner with organizations in Macon County, where their community health workers will train and engage with the community. Community health workers will connect people with resources to help promote a healthy lifestyle. This program is coming to Macon County after success in Sangamon and Peoria counties last year.

Rachel Telleen, the Executive Director of Community Education, said that peoples' past experience lend themselves to on-the-job experiences. "There's so much diversity in the individuals that end up participating, but they all have that common ground of being kind, caring, amazing humans that just want to help others. And you end up with this group coming together and just creating an amazing relationship with one another."

To get involved with the program, people can apply online.
