SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Fifty Illinois middle and high school students from across the state were awarded scholarships from the Illinois Sheriffs' Association (ISA).Â
The ISA said that the students participated in the 52nd annual Cebrin Goodman Teen Institute (CGTI) in July at Eastern Illinois University.Â
Students participated in workshops on topics including leadership, emotional intelligence, mental well-being and substance abuse prevention.
They also took part in team-building activities like a talent show and a celebration dance.Â
ISA stated that students who attended CGTI are eligible for 22 volunteer hours and will meet again at Mid-Year 2027. That event will take place Jan. 16 and 17 at the Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Bloomington-Normal.Â
More information on the institute is available online.Â
